|topic:||Literature Review on Climate Neutral Reducing Agents in the Ferroalloy Industry|
The metallurgical industry generates massive amounts of CO2, due to the usage of fossil coal and coke as reducing agents. Substitution with CO2 neutral reducing agents like coke generated from biomass or industrial residues could improve the CO2 balance of metallurgical processes.
In the frame of this thesis a review on promising alternative reducing agents, especially for the ferroalloy industry has to be carried out. Using scientific papers, patents, industry movements and public funded projects, potential substitutes, challenges and applications have to be determined.
